According to Perry Robins, MD, President of The Skin Cancer Foundation, “Everyone, regardless of skin color, should make staying safe in the sun a priority and incorporate sun protection measures into their daily life.”
While you are out there enjoying the beauty of Mother Nature, follow these tips for protection and prevention of skin cancer.
- Shade: Get under it as much as you can. Pay special attention to the peak hours, usually 10 am to 4 pm.
- Sunscreen: Use it every day. Apply a broad spectrum sunscreen to any skin that will be exposed to the sun during the day. Be sure not to miss your tender feet, ears and scalp. Look for a product with natural ingredients such as Image Skincare’s Daily Defense line.
- Cover: Use clothing to cover exposed skin. Don’t forget sunglasses and a hat to protect your eyes, scalp and neck.
- : Skip it. Tanning outside or in a tanning booth should be avoided. Just a few tanning sessions a year increases the risk of melanoma dramatically.
- Burning: Avoid it by using the prevention hints above. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “A person’s risk for melanoma doubles if he or she has had five or more sunburns at any point in life.” Ouch!
- Snow or Surf: Use caution. The reflection from snow and surf increases the intensity of UV rays so use a higher SPF sunscreen, re-applying every two hours, after swimming or sweating is important.
- Infants: Keep them out of the sun. Their tender skin can be damaged very quickly. Protect them by limiting any sun exposure. Little ones should not have sunscreen before 6 months of age.
Mother Nature is glad to have you experience her wild outdoors. She just hopes (as do we) that you’ll do so wisely so you can enjoy it for many years to come.
We are celebrating all the goodness of summer and we excitedly brought out cute short shorts, bathing suits and darling sun dresses. It’s a fabulous time to get out, enjoy life and wear pretty clothes. Sometimes, however, one look in the full length mirror, gives an “other-than-fabulous” view. You ask yourself, “Is that cellulite?”
You may have heard it said that the best offence is a good defense…so understanding the life cycle of cellulite is the first order of business. Imagine if your great-great-great grandmother’s great grandmother had cellulite, she was wealthy and attractive. After all, she must’ve been able to afford eating richer foods, have servants handle the “work” and have her driver take her places. Not a lot of physical activity going on back then.
But overall, most ate from their gardens, totally organically and fewer people had cellulite. With the beginning of mass producing, large farms, along with the use of pesticides, fertilizers and additives, our food has gotten less satisfying and less healthy—all in the name of inexpensive convenience.
As we become more dependent on technology and our foods continue to change, we are taking on cellulite. So what is a girl to do?
Image Skincare has an amazing product that helps break down cellulite, Cell.U.Lift. It is a revolutionary body firming cream formulated to fight cellulite and skin laxity at the cellular level. It contains Enzyme-Polypeptide Complex which reduces fat cells and strengthens collagen fibers.
So, if the full length mirror is starting to talk back, check out Image Skincare’s Cell.U.Lift along with their other amazing products. Soon you’ll be glad you did.
It’s the dead heat of summer and many of us are off to the cool relief of the lake or beach. We dutifully cover ourselves with sunscreen, drink plenty of water and enjoy the day without a sunburn. But how do we get a natural glow to our skin without harming it?
Image Skincare has the answer! Our Body Spa Face and Body Bronzer gives your skin a healthy glow without compromising your health. It contains erythrulose with pigment, a natural self-tanner, to give a light golden shimmer. For the best results follow these three steps.
The way you prepare your skin to receive our bronzer will determine how your glow will look and last. To begin, moisturize your skin daily, we suggest Rejuvenating Body Lotion. Exfoliate twice a week with Exfoliating Body Scrub, and always exfoliate the night before applying. Using this body scrub gets rid of dry skin and provides an even base. The blend of glycolic, lactic and maltic acid renews skin and increases cell regeneration.
Apply a moisturizer to feet, knees, elbows and hands. This will provide a barrier to naturally drier areas where the bronzing lotion can cling, leaving darker spots.
Use a mitt or glove to apply Face and Body Bronzer beginning with your feet and working your way up the body. Using small, circular motions will help with blending. For the face, apply to the middle (where the sun naturally shines) and blend outwards and down your neck. Finish by washing your hands and wetting a cotton ball to run through your eyebrows.
If you prefer not to tan your face, try our tinted moisturizer, Daily Defense Tinted SPF30. It pulls double duty: giving you a glow while protecting you from the sun’s damaging rays. If the tint is a little intense, it can be mixed with another Daily Defense moisturizer to lighten it up.
In order to keep that glow, you’ll want to moisture daily but avoid heavily scented shower-gels and moisturizers.
So get out there and enjoy the sun safely but also bring on the healthy summer glow.
The health care industry has begun to research and reveal how high fructose corn syrup affects our bodies. This sweetener, a combination of processed sugar and syrup made from corn, is used by many food companies to cut costs and to increase the shelf life of a product. Because of the way the molecules are combined, there is no digestion. It goes straight to the liver where it is converted to fat and no signal is sent to your brain that you are full, so you keep eating.
Let’s see what some of the experts are saying. According to bien-être, a blog promoting healthy skin, consuming high fructose corn syrup, “not only spikes your cortisol and blood sugar, but it is incredibly difficult for your body to process. This puts stress on your digestive system and wreaks havoc with your stress hormones – which leads to breakouts, oxidative stress, dark circles, hyper pigmentation and sun sensitivity, and premature skin wrinkling.”
Daily Beauty, another health blog, shares that while your liver is pulling overtime to process the substance, it’s causing weight gain and liver stress, while “your skin (the body’s largest organ) also reacts, causing a host of ailments.”
Amy Piacentino, a nutritionist from Beverly Hills, CA, says “When I have changed the diet of my patients, and took away 90 percent of their high fructose corn syrup, the first thing I notice is how their mood improves, and the pores of their skin shrink. They start to develop a glow, the excessive appetite decreases, the central waist fat shrinks and many women immediately notice their cellulite diminishes.” (source)
High fructose corn syrup is a part of many foods: creamers, cereals, yogurts, breads, salad dressings, sauces, etc. You may not be aware of how much of it you are eating every day. Reading food ingredients will help you identify it and choose healthier options making your skin come alive from the inside. Using products from Image Skincare such as the Vital C or Ormedic collections with plenty of anti-oxidants makes improvements on the outside. In turn, your skin will thank you and in the process become quite the show-off.
Maybe you’ve heard that 50 is the new 40, 40 is the new 30 which is the new 20, etc. Want to live this way? Being more youthful depends on several things: the way you feel, the way you look and perhaps most important, the way you think you feel and look. That’s a mouthful but look at these suggestions
The way you feel affects how you age
The most concrete way of staying young is feeling healthy inside and out. Here are some ways to feel young:
- Nutrition: Remember, the skin is the body’s largest organ, so taking care of it from the inside is important. Eat a diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, a moderate amount of low-fat proteins, some whole grains daily and a minimum intake of processed foods. As an anti-inflammatory and skin protector, add some Omega-3 rich foods, such as fish, walnuts, avocados, etc., to your menu.
- Sleep and Stress: Get plenty of the former and reduce the latter. It’s not always easy but reducing stress and getting plenty of rest are important parts of feeling good.
- Smoking: Statistics clearly tell us of the dramatic health risks associated with smoking but did you know you can expect dull, discolored skin with loss of elasticity that manifests deeper wrinkles. Yikes!
The way your skin looks affects how you age
When guessing someone’s age, we usually look at their face first. So what does our face show others? Some factors we have from birth and they can’t be changed, like genetics and skin color. Focus on things you can change:
- Sun exposure: UV rays, brought to us by the sun, breakdown collagen and elastin which promotes wrinkles. To combat this, become an everyday sunscreen user. Choosing a moisturizing sunscreen such as Image Skincare’s Daily Defense collection combines efforts for young-looking skin.
- Repeated facial expressions: Facial wrinkles begin with facial expressions and those that are repeated daily bring about more wrinkles. It may sound silly but give your face a break with a short pause to de-stress and even try on some new expressions. Use Image Skincare’s Max line with argireline, a Botox®-like element that relaxes and can reverse facial wrinkles.
The way you think you feel and look affects how you age
Do you cringe when someone asks your age? Before it happens again, picture yourself at an age that represents youthfulness and vitality. Visualize yourself that age, and work towards it!
Then, the next time somebody inquires your age, ask back, “What age do you think I am?” That’ll bring powerful feedback! Whatever they answer, just smile and say, “Close”. If they’ve chosen your “decided age,” keep up the good work! If not, think again about your skin and what more you can do to improve it.
At Image Skincare you’ll find plenty of amazing organically derived products that give beautiful skin. Where to start? Today we’re going to share the basics of a quality skincare routine in order to get you the best results. A little discipline will help your skin look beautiful year round!
Begin by selecting the best cleanser for your skin type. It is important to avoid soaps and cheap cleansers as they tend to dry out or otherwise harm your skin. Spending a bit more on your cleansing treatment is well worth it and will provide benefits for years to come.
Be sure to read the instructions for how to use your cleanser, some may be wiped off with a cotton ball and others may be rinsed with warm water. Never use cold or hot water as these can cause broken capillaries.
Cleanse at the end of the day to get rid of makeup and the day’s grime. It helps the skin rejuvenate overnight. Some ladies also like to cleanse in the morning, especially those with oily skin but be careful not to over cleanse as it can upset the balance of the skin’s natural emollients.
Many people often overlook exfoliation as part of their weekly skincare routine but they are missing out on a powerful tool to help the skin look young and healthy. Regular exfoliation helps rid the face of tired skin cells and bring the energetic ones to the surface. With so many exfoliation types from basic scrubs to professional treatments, it can be challenging to find what is right for you. Speak to your skin care expert for a recommendation.
Keeping skin soft and smooth has been desired for eons in order to keep skin looking young. Moisturizing is an important part of a basic routing. Knowing your skin type is critical when choosing a moisturizer. There are products that benefit oily, dry, combination or acne-prone skin. Getting a skin analysis from your skin care professional will help you identify your perfect type of moisturizer.
Also, remember to treat those beautiful eyes with special care. The delicate skin surrounding them will appreciate a specially formulated cream.
One of the most damaging and aging items around us is the sun. Whether we live in a cloudy or sunny climate, applying sunscreen to your face daily is critical for long term vitality. Besides causing wrinkles, overexposure to the sun can damage skin from mild to severe. The quick and effective way to take care of your facial skin is to choose a moisturizer that contains SPF. Use it every morning and your skin will love you back.

Many individuals are becoming more aware and more vigilant about what they put into their bodies. Many are choosing organics to promote health. Why would you do anything less for what goes on your body? Finding organic products used to be a challenge but these days they are everywhere. But finding a product that will give you the desired results and yet have the reputation to uphold organic standards can be a challenge. Image Skincare’s Ormedic line, has an incredible reputation to provide both.
Some people might be wary of using organic skincare solutions, fearing the results will not be as effective as clinically driven products. Make no mistake, Image Skincare’s Ormedic products offer the best of both worlds! The line combines the purest organic ingredients with medical effectiveness to achieve clinically proven results. The organic ingredients in Image Skincare Ormedic products contain natural ingredients that nurture, rejuvenate and heal while reducing the risk of skin irritation and flare-ups.
Why organic skincare?
But why choose organic ingredients at all? Much of what we apply we apply on our skin is absorbed by our bodies. Some chemicals even enter our bloodstream. Much of the skincare on the market today contains synthetic substances that are highly processed and not very skin-friendly. The most offensive compounds seem to be fragrances and preservatives. These can cause irritation or allergies.
What you’ll find
All of Image Skincare’s products offer the highest quality ingredients with a variety of features to suit specialized needs. The Ormedic line focuses on promoting clear, healthy skin by mixing potent anti-oxidants with organic ingredients. At the same time, they avoid nasty chemicals, harsh acids or the potentially cancer-causing parabens.
Designed for all skin types, Image Ormedic is especially effective for post-treatment, for easily irritated skin or during the healing phase of a post-operative wound.
Remember, there’s only one body in this life, so caring for it makes sense. Choosing products with high-quality organic ingredients such as Image Skincare Ormedic Line is vital to promoting, rather than harming the health and beauty of your skin.
